Shadow an injector in Ontario, before you commit to a course.

A shadowing day is a day spent in a working aesthetic clinic, watching an experienced injector treat real, consenting clients. You do not inject. You watch, ask questions, and see what the job really is. For a nurse in Ontario who is thinking about aesthetics, it is the cheapest way to find out whether this is for you, and the fastest way to learn what a course does not teach.

What you see on a shadowing day

  • The consultation. How an experienced injector assesses a face, sets expectations, and decides what not to do.
  • Saying no. How a client is turned down, which is a skill no classroom shows you.
  • Consent and charting as they are actually done, not as a form in a binder.
  • The pace of a clinic day, and how the prescriber fits into it.
  • The parts nobody advertises: follow-ups, touch-ups, the client who is unhappy.

Shadowing, hands-on and a course are three different things

Shadowing is watching. A hands-on day is you injecting under direct supervision, and normally assumes you have trained already. A course is structured teaching. Most new injectors need all three, in roughly this order: shadow, train, then supervised hands-on time. See how to choose training in Ontario.

How to get a shadowing day in Ontario

Cold-calling clinics rarely works: a busy injector has no reason to say yes to a stranger. We ask on your behalf. Tell us where in Ontario you are and what you want to see, and we introduce you to an injector or Medical Director who hosts shadowing days and is taking people now. Matching is free for injectors. What the day covers, when it is, and whether there is a fee are agreed between you and the host.

Remember that the clients in the room are real. Expect to be asked to respect their privacy, and for each client to agree to you being there.

Shadowing questions

Can I shadow a nurse injector in Ontario?

Yes. Plus One MD introduces Ontario nurses to experienced injectors and Medical Directors who host shadowing days. Matching is free for injectors, and the day itself is arranged directly with the host.

What is a shadowing day?

A day in a working aesthetic clinic, watching an experienced injector with real, consenting clients. You observe consultations, treatments, consent and charting. You do not inject.

Is shadowing the same as training?

No. Shadowing is observing. A hands-on day is injecting under supervision, and a course is structured teaching. Most new injectors benefit from all three.

Can a nursing student shadow an injector?

A student can ask to observe, and whether to accept is up to the host. A student cannot inject until they are registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
